Why does my Google Business Profile rank matter?
When someone searches "plumber near me" or "auto repair Wyandotte," Google often shows a map and a short list of businesses. That list is where many phone calls start.
What people actually click
Most owners never scroll deep into search results on a phone. They look at the map pack, check distance and stars, then tap Call or Directions. If your listing is missing, incomplete, or buried, you lose that traffic before your website even loads.
What Google tends to reward
Google does not publish a full formula. In practice, stronger listings usually share a few traits:
- Correct primary category and service areas
- Accurate hours, phone, and address
- Recent photos and posts (not a profile last touched in 2022)
- Steady reviews with owner replies
- A website that matches the same business details
What this is not
Ranking is not a one-time setup. Competitors post, collect reviews, and update hours every month. A listing that looked fine last winter can fall behind if nobody maintains it.
